I find that my teaching style is focused on harboring curiosity of music for the beginner student. It brings me joy to see a student go above and beyond because they research more to what I offer them on the page to help enrich their playing. I ask students what they most would like to work on or accomplish and help them set realistic goals with skill building exercises to practice. Read More

Lifetime musician with 10 years of teaching experience. I studied music performance at the University of South Florida, where I focused on flute as my primary instrument. I have also studied piano, strings, voice for over 2 decades. I have learned under many great music instructors, various members of the Florida Orchestra and also a direct student of Dr. Suzuki himself. Aside from teaching experience, I have also performed in small chamber ensembles professionally for events such as weddings, charities, and live music nights at restaurant and am also involved in a few community volunteer ensembles. I believe each student is different. Therefor, lessons should differ depending on each students particular needs, taste in music, and age. I would never treat an adult student like I would a young student and vice versa. I always try to set weekly goals with each of my students in order for them to have something to work towards on a consistent basis. If my students don't reach their weekly goal I simply have a little bit of a review with them in the beginning of the lesson and then proceed with that weeks work. Read More

Four years ago I had my first experience as a teacher in Cuba. It was with only 3 students in an Elementary school. I have to tell that in the beginning I was so nervous because each student was different, had different goals, styles and ability to learn. I develop during my classes with my first students the ability to have patient with my students and to make them feel that in my class they can have fun and also learn something different each class. I started playing the violin in 7th grade. It was a struggle for me to learn the instrument and how to read music, until I started taking lessons. I was taught using the Suzuki method and have used it to teach all of my students ever since. I was inspired by a best friend to pick up guitar and learned to play as best as I could without a teacher. Read More

For beginner students, I start with Hal Leonard's "Essential Elements for Strings" Book 1. This book is not only great for learning the fundamentals of the instrument (such as the names of the parts of the instrument, how to hold the instrument, etc.) but it also the best book I have found to teach beginning students how to read music on the violin and viola. For more advanced students, I like to stick with a formula of three things: scales (two-three octaves), an etude (a piece used to focus on a specific technique), and solo repertoire. Read More
