My teaching style is one that is not used much at beginning levels but for me, that's why it works. Teaching a young student how to play the instrument by sound and not by reading notes allows them to use their imagination while playing. When students figure out for themselves, that is when the best kind of learning happens. In my experience I have found that it is most effective to teach students in a one-on-one setting. When others are involved in the lesson it can cause a student to become self conscious and therefore effects their progress. In my experience, those demands are best met with encouragement, not negativity. For as long as we are willing to learn, we are all students.
