From 2020 - present, every summer I have been teaching at the Hilton Head Jazz Camp. This jazz camp is a week-long intensive learning experience. Jazz musicians from all over the U.S. come to teach at the camp and help the students learn about jazz. In this camp I had the responsibility of teaching theory, improvisation, sight reading, and musicality with playing. For beginner students, I take an individual approach because I've learned that there's no one way to teach multiple students. Each child is different so with careful evaluation of their specific needs and abilities, I decide on which approach would best fit that student. I love to start out by working on posture and embouchure. Those 2 are very important because younger children tend to be a little distracted in those areas. Read More
