My teaching experience has been quite rewarding and varied over the years. Every student has a unique and special passion that has drawn them into music and I make sure to acknowledge that in order to maintain that spirit even when a task is in front of them. My main focus is the technical aspect of the instrument, helping the student discover how it works for them, so they can shape the music the best way possible. Read More

The approach I take is individualized and utilizes multiple teaching methods. Every student brings unique qualities and different interests and it is my job to find a way to connect those qualities and interests to music. One thing I emphasize is continued learning. If we are working on fundamentals of piano technique I find a way to slowly introduce more concepts that will be developed later on in our lessons. Read More

I come from a deep musical heritage and chose the trombone as my main instrument for spiritual reasons. While attending Los Angeles County High School for The Arts, I studied with jazz and trombone legends. Since moving to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, I've been studying with masters from many different disciplines. I currently live in NYC where i am studying percussion, tap dancing and yoga. My home functions perfectly as a 24 hour teaching studio. Read More

Taking the time to understand my students, their ability to retain information, and execute, as well as their interests, goals and desires musically, is vital to my success as an instructor. While I use many of the collection of standard method books, I find creating unique exercises designed to target weaker areas in a particular persons playing to be more efficient, in cases, accelerating their grasp of fundamentals. Throughout ones progression, repertoire is introduced to reinforce techniques in a musical fashion. Read More

I teach strong instrumental fundamentals, along with music theory comprehension, sight-reading, and ear training. I also like to emphasize ensemble playing using instrumental duets. I use appropriate level texts based on the student's experience first and age level second but always teach from what will make either younger students or adults feel comfortable. Fun is a must in one's progression but focus is key to success. I've helped students win concerto and ensemble awards and have also brought adults into the professional-level playing world through lessons. Read More

I'm an experienced musician and educator with the strong belief that anyone can learn and love music. I studied music at the New England Conservatory and Harvard University, and I've had the privilege of traveling throughout North and Central America performing jazz, classical, rock, and many other types of music. I've also been lucky enough to appear on recordings by a variety of artists, including singer-songwriter Ben Zaidi, acclaimed indie rock band The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, and bass phenom Esperanza Spalding. Students will always start with fundamentals to ensure a steady foundation. The exact materials may vary, but I usually create the specific exercises that students need to work on week to week. Each part of their individual practice session will have an 'aim' for students to focus on while they are playing. By teaching thoughtful practice, students can avoid wasted practice time and find success at more frequent intervals. Songs, solos, or etudes will be added in on a regular basis and focus on a technique the student is currently working on. Read More
