The goal of my instruction always is for the student to produce a rich, beautiful tone with the minimum physical and mental effort in any musical situation he or she may encounter. For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements as well as my own individual exercises written specifically for each student's needs as they develop. After they have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and etudes for their first recital performance. Performing and teaching music are passions of mine as they are apart of my everyday life. I have been playing the Trumpet for 14 years and I am proficient in both Jazz and Classical music. I graduated from Towson University in Fall 2012 with a bachelors degree in Jazz Performance. I am excited to expand my musical network by meeting students, peers, and role models alike. I have also taught at University of Pennsylvania and Swarthmore College. I stay flexible to the individual students' needs. I try to keep the student engaged and ask many questions to help them become their own best teacher. I will give assignments and create goals but also want the student to be self motivated. I will not be overly strict when it comes to practice. I like to have the student approach music with joy and curiosity. I like to keep the learning positive and help the students find their voice within music and find what motivates them intrinsically.
