I then continued teaching once in college by volunteering at local high schools helping new students to the band programs learn brass and percussion. I have used a variety of teaching books and methods, and will generally try to contour my methods to the needs of students while also keeping costs low. My favorite part about teaching, is the idea of passing my knowledge on, and making sure that the student knows that he or she can accomplish anything with the right tools. In addition to directing middle school and high school bands in the public school setting, I have also taught music appreciation (both middle and high school level), kindergarten music, and philosophy courses to college undergrads.
