I am fortunate to have met, associated and studied with, performed and recorded with some of the greatest musical minds of the innovators of traditional modern jazz, and also a few of the eternally legendary classical musicians. I have two degrees in music but more important is the gift that I have been given to know these amazing people in my life. I've received three National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Fellowships to pursue music in the direction of my choice. Read More

I am a NY/NJ based music teacher and performer with years of private lesson experience. I teach every instrument at a beginner level but specialize in brass pedagogy and the development of brass technique. My students develop a thorough understanding of the skills required to play their instrument, the theory necessary to analyze and understand their music, and the creativity needed to transform the music on the page into a personal expression of their own art. Teaching people to be musicians is probably the best thing I can think of doing as a career in my life, other than of course performing live and playing with bands and making music. I would love to teach people how to play music so that they can teach others and the world can be full of music. Together, we can help change the world. Playing music for charity and benefits is something I also do. Read More

I use Rubank methoh books for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I will introduce material from the Arbans method when students have reached a desired level. In addition, I'll find material in the genre that is exciting to the student but also develops their skills and techniques on the instrument. I create individual lessons and goals for each student based what needs to be improved, and what inspires them to practice and get better I am a strong believer in proper techniques, and that they can be obtained simulataneously while studying many genres of music. It is important to adopt a teaching style that is tailored to the individual needs of each student, especially because each student learns at their own pace. Setting goals is one of the first topics I discuss with my students, and then indicate some of the steps they need to take to achieve the goals that they set for themselves. Keeping track of a student's hours of practice and their musical achievements is beneficial for me to determine what new material and concepts to work on, and also allows the student to stay organized and motivated. Teaching has been a part of my 'plan' since I was in middle school. I have been teaching privately since High School and have maintained a studio in each of the different cities I have lived in. I spent three years teaching beginning band for NYC Public Schools. Through these experiences, and my own practice, I have found that fundamentals and planned practice are top priority. In training this way, students will find they will excel quickly and be able to perform the current songs or traditional pieces they desire to perform. Read More
