I started teaching piano as a substitute for a mom in pop shop in Ashburn, Va when I was in high school, after a couple of months they started me as a full time Instructor for Trumpet and Piano. Every Winter and Summer break, I helped run music camps and group piano lessons in Ashburn and Brambleton, VA. Read More

I am always trying to have a fun lesson. I know that some students are in school all day and are tired by the end of the day, so I create obtainable goals for each student. Each week we will be able to see the progress that they have made without feeling discouraged that they did not reach a certain number in their method book. I want all of my students to work hard and I know all of my students can suceed. Read More

I am primarily a trumpet player, although I am versed in other instruments as well. I attended Manhattan School Music and studied with some of the best trumpet professors and players in the country. While living in New York, I played in all sorts of groups from Orchestras to Jazz bands to Salsa. Since moving to this area I have expanded the styles I have played to include Blues, Reggae, Disco, RB, Wedding Bands, Hip Hop, etc. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet
Everything we talk about carries over past the art of playing the trumpet. For example, learning how to be a team player, creativity, and the reward of daily practice teaches the student about success in many different contexts. I do expect my students to practice at least four to five times a week so that lessons are as productive as they can be. I do try to find out what inspires each student, be it types of music or anything in the outside world. Read More

For students just starting out the focus is always on the fundamentals. Hal Leonard has some great Essential Elements books. When students show progress with these types of instruction manuals we'll usually jump to specific pieces of music that focus on the elements that we learned about in our method books. Lessons are tailored to the student and his or her needs and goals. All students aren't shooting to play at Carnegie Hall or tour the World. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone
From the first lesson, the most important aspect of teaching is ensuring that the student is attaining the goals he/she is most excited about. If the student is enthusiastic and driven, the rest falls into place naturally. That's the way it's been for the students I've taught, and the way it began for myself. I make sure to celebrate the student's accomplishments and victories, but also address any points or facets of their performance that they could improve upon. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I have been teaching private flute lessons since High School and fell in love with teaching in general right away. As my skills have increased, I've learned to work with private students in other instruments as well. Over the past 6 years, I have actively been working to expand my studio and teaching experience in any way possible. Since starting college, I have gained teaching experience through my private students as well as experience in the classroom. Read More
