My students take music at their own pace, and on their own terms. Whatever you want out of our lessons is what you will get, and though I expect regular improvement, I don't push students beyond their limits. Read More

Older students will also play from Rochut's Melodious etudes and the Rubank Advanced methods. With older students I also like to transition into some more challenging arenas such as the Blazhevitch books. Any advanced students who want to focus on jazz will be using the Jazz Conception Method. Beyond lesson and etude books, all students will, as part of their lessons, have required listening assignments to further build and conceptualize our ideas of good playing. Read More

I am a life long lover of music and have played violin and piano since the age of 5 and began trombone in 5th grade school band. I fell in love with the trombone and love to keep up with my other instruments, I also love to arrange and compose music. I love sharing my love of music with others and watching children blossom into their musical selves is always a great journey. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Bastien Piano Basics or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my days growing up as a boy scout and through musical leadership roles throughout my schooling. My inspiration in becoming a music teacher stems from teaching how to tie different knots on a camping trip and my love for playing trumpet. I love the art of teaching and the learning process. I am currently on my 7th year of professional level teaching for general music, chorus and band. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with musicians of all backgrounds and levels. In 2019 I graduated from UMass Amherst with a BM in Jazz studies and a BS in environmental science. Studying with Eric Berlin (principal trumpet of the Albany Symphony Orchestra) and Jeff Holmes (grammy winning piano and trumpet player) informed my knowledge of trumpet technique and music theory. Throughout my time as a performer, I have had the privilege to play with great musicians like Sput Searight of Snarky Puppy, Doobie Powell, Jake Sherman, Avery Wilson of the Voice, and child prodigy Aron Hodek, among many others. Instruments: Trumpet French Horn
I am a firm believer in "sound before sight" techniques at the very beginning. Students will learn strong fundamentals and start making a great sound that will encourage them to keep on playing. Eventually, written music is essential, and I tend to use a wide variety of printed books including various "band" methods (Essential Elements, Sound Innovations, etc.) I'm happy to work with whichever book students are required to have for their in-school lessons.
