I had one student once who only wanted to play Patriotic Tunes, so that is what we played. He can play the Star Spangled Banner really well. I served as Band Leader (lead musician) at Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church, a 6,000 member congregation, in Atlanta for 6 years. I have taught private trumpet lessons for about 4 years in the Dublin/Stephenville area. I feel the best way to approach an instrument like the trumpet is to have steady warmups, technical studies (Clarke, Small, Arbans) with elements like flexibility, tone studies, and calisthenics; and of course, literature. I am very experienced with trumpet literature spanning from beginner to advanced. I teach classical as well as jazz trumpet, and believe that they intertwine and it is helpful to practice a piece in different styles to better acclimate to the piece. Read More
