Teachers may use similar tools, as means to teach a lesson, but how those tools are used will vary from mentor to mentor, and student to student. For beginners, I personally recommend the Essential Elements Book. If you are barely starting on an instrument, make sure you get book 1. Aside from the fact that I was taught with that book when I was in middle school, I taught with that particular method book to my beginners in the 2021-2022 school year. For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leanard's Rubank Elementary Method Cornet/Trumpet. If a student has a grasp of the fundamentals, I work with the basic blues and scales to build a repetoire. For Adults, I like to work with jazz standards as well as H.L. Clarke's Technical Studies for Cornet and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet. I like to make my lessons fun and engaging. Read More
