I am a passionate musician who loves to perform in various types of ensembles, create concepts and new ideas in musical composition, and teach students to become closer and more confident in their playing. During my studies at Temple College, I have performed for many well-known musicians including John Mackey, Wyckoff Gordon, and Luis Cknte. I have performed across Texas, including the Mary Gibbs Jones Cincert Hall at Baylor University, in groups big and small, ranging from 3-person chamber ensembles to bands and orchestras as large as 200 musicians. My teaching experience sates back to running trumpet sectionals (in Junior High High School) for an All Star Jazz Band in my home town. When I was 16 I started teaching younger trumpet students as well. I descovered early on that I had a passion for directing and teaching. This stayed with me, and I always have incorporated education into my directing and leadership styles as a perormer. As a Musical Director for Royal Caribbean I would regularly have to teach an hour long show to my international band in under an hour and a half.I know that learning an instrument is hard work and that motivation is key to success. Now fast-forward to March 2021, I was hired by Presidio ISD to teach middle school band. From then until May 2022, I got to teach middle school band along with choir and mariachi. I also occasionally helped at the local high school. What I have learned while teaching middle school, especially with beginners, is that playing along can be helpful initially. Once the student gets the hang of what they are playing, I phase out of playing my instrument. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leanard's Rubank Elementary Method Cornet/Trumpet. If a student has a grasp of the fundamentals, I work with the basic blues and scales to build a repetoire. For Adults, I like to work with jazz standards as well as H.L. Clarke's Technical Studies for Cornet and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet. I like to make my lessons fun and engaging. Read More
