I am a passionate musician who loves to perform in various types of ensembles, create concepts and new ideas in musical composition, and teach students to become closer and more confident in their playing. During my studies at Temple College, I have performed for many well-known musicians including John Mackey, Wyckoff Gordon, and Luis Cknte. I have performed across Texas, including the Mary Gibbs Jones Cincert Hall at Baylor University, in groups big and small, ranging from 3-person chamber ensembles to bands and orchestras as large as 200 musicians. For older students, especially high schoolers, I like to use a blue book called Foundations for Superior Performance (Warm-Ups and Technique for Band) by Richard Williams and Jeff King as the techniques in that book are more suited for what a high school-level player should be expected to play. As for adults, I recommend Brass Gym as well as books from made by university professors and other professional instrumentalists. Moving beyond warm-ups and technique mastery, I like to find different solos that appropriately challenge and help hone on a skill that my student is focusing on working on. Read More

I get a thrill when I can see one of my student's develop a passion for music. It is fulfilling to see them understand the fundamentals of jazz and to know where the music comes from. I like to give a brief history of the style and song to develop an emotional connection with the music being played. This allows the student to put feeling into the song rather than playing notes on a page. Read More
