I have been teaching trumpet since 2008 where I have been giving private, in home instruction. All of my students take part in the NYSSMA festival and annually score at the top of their class. Some students have made it into the SCMEA, NYSCAME, and All-State Festivals. I am a trained classical trumpeter and I am proficient on the Bb, C, Eb, A piccolo, G Bugle, and Flugelhorn trumpets. I started teaching privately in college at Florida State University, and was even asked to teach for the F.S.U. summer jazz camp as the middle school instructor for their big band. I also taught trombone masterclasses as well as a small group. In New York I've taught privately for 5 years, and have also had the opportunity to work with elementary schools in the city doing jazz presentations through my Master's degree program at Manhattan School of Music. After the first couple of lessons, I will set goals with the student, and their parent (if the student is a child.) Being able to acknowledge that a goal has been met allows the student to have a desire to continue with the instrument they are learning. Passing goals and allows the student eager to learn. I began teaching lessons when I was in college five years ago, and have continued teaching in New Jersey. I do not yet have a home studio, but am willing to go straight to the student as well as conduct online lessons. I taught elementary and middle school music in the Oakland Public School District, and taught elementary general music at Sporting Hill Elementary School.
