Instruments: Voice Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder

My teaching style is very much praxial and based off of skill reinforcement. For any instrument, I will incorporate the Kodaly method (solfege) of musicianship into the curriculum. For me, my goal is to teach the student how to learn for themselves. I focus on practice techniques, assessment of tone, sound, rhythms, pitches, etc. Rather than spoon feed all of the answers to the students, I wish to encourage each musician to develop their own critical mind towards the art that they create. One of the pillars of learning that I hold to from my own experience as a private lesson student is the pursuit of excellence. I have been teaching individual lessons consistently for the last 8 years, and in that time I have learned that no two students are alike. I understand that each student requires my individual attention and focus and through that focus I make it a priority to learn how my student learns in order to provide the best, most fun experience they can have learning music and developing their skills. I try to have as much fun as possible while still maintaining a high expectiation of performance.  I am, by trade and training, a comedian, so jokes and laughter abound. Most of my students might say I'm not as funny as I think I am, but we still have fun! I am, however a stickler for learning the basics of music theory and correct use of vocabulary. Students won't move on to the next level until I know they have a firm grasp of prior concepts. Read More

My musicial experience started at the age of 7. This was the  beginning of my formal classical piano training.  In high school I stated learning more about the fundamental concepts of Jazz. While attending Cal State for three years I quickly developed and focused on arrangment and composition for all types of music. I have over 15 years experience teaching private lessons at students home as well as at my studio.  I truly believe in all my students and try my hardest to encourage, promote, and evaluate weekly progress.  At the end of the day each student can say I did my best because I practiced and accomplished my goal for set for me this week while having fun learning.
