Currently I am adept in Singing, Music Theory, Trombone, Bass (-classical) and Electronic Music, but I also practice Flute, Piano, Guitar,Percussion (congas) and Tap Dancing. I have been told that I have a very unconventional teaching style, but I prefer to call it simplicity. For beginning students I start with an Alfred's beginning drum method to help with reading. We also start on the basic understanding of musical concepts such as tempo, dynamics and so on.  While reading is important I do also include learning by wrote or by ear.  A good ear is just as important as good reading skills for the complete musician.  I always include music that the student is interested in to keep the lessons fun and engaging! My approach to teaching is a logical one. The student needs to learn to "crawl', and then to 'walk" and then to run. With an organized succession of excersizes, the student can learn the basics of the instrument which will lead to the ability to play more fun songs.That is the goal of learning the instrument; to be able to eventually play some fun music!! Once they have began to learn the techniques to properly play, I will begin them with repitoire that I find suitable for them to play and also what they would like to learn so this way the students are learning what they want, which makes the music learning process even more enjoyable!
