Once the student has become more fluent in the technique of their instrument I will start to ask them what they want to work on and improve upon. For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has a grasp on the fundamentals of performance, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital or NYSSMA solo. After the student moves on from basic method books, I introduce more trombone-specific books such as Arban's Trombone Method Book and Rochut's Melodious Etudes for trombone. For the past 4 years, I have been at Seton Hall University studying to become proficient in Contemporary Trumpet and to possess solid skills in the collection of all other brass and woodwind instruments in order to teach music. I am fully qualified and most of my teaching experience comes from my students and teaching music within my church.
