I am a passionate performer, student, and teacher who loves to play the trombone and sharing my musical discoveries with all those I come across. I graduated with my Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from Boston University in 2018. I have had the opportunity to perform all over the United States through my involvement with DCI and as a freelance musician. I directly relate my teaching methods to Dr. Jan Kagrice, the founder of Musician's Wellness of North America; an organization that rehabilitates musicians with conditions that affect their ability to play their instruments. I've continued her teachings of a relaxed, observational form of playing, which basically means that my students learn how to play a brass instrument with the least amount of effort possible with the best sound possible. I have been teaching music lessons since high school at the South Orange/Maplewood Adult School Summer Program back in 2009. I like to working with kids to encourage them to continue playing music and to build up a steady regimen of practice and self evaluation. I want to make learning music fun for my students and I want them to want to learn more and become better musicians. My pedagogy is based on the American jazz tradition and the teachings of Orff and Kodaly. I like to impart a holistic love of music in my students, without boring them with too much history or theory. However, it is my belief that theory and musical literacy will open doors to a greater level of fulfillment and understanding of music as a whole.
