I am a NY/NJ based music teacher and performer with years of private lesson experience. I teach every instrument at a beginner level but specialize in brass pedagogy and the development of brass technique. My students develop a thorough understanding of the skills required to play their instrument, the theory necessary to analyze and understand their music, and the creativity needed to transform the music on the page into a personal expression of their own art. It is very refreshing to be able to see the enthusiasm and eagerness of a student in lessons. As someone who still routinely takes lessons, I know firsthand how important the relationship between teacher and student can be. I’m very passionate about fostering a friendly, open environment in which students feel comfortable learning, making mistakes, and voicing opinions. In my time teaching and taking lessons, I’ve found that the growth that comes from one on one attention is like no other, and that the solid foundation that private lessons build prepares students for success in other musical settings, as well as in the classroom and, eventually, the workplace. I have been teaching private music lessons since I was 18 and my International travels and performances have given me the opportunity to conduct master classes at some of the prestigious musical academies across Europe. Music truly is international. Now more than ever global music is available instantly through the advent of smart phones and the internet, as well as music throughout history. Still, it is a gift to have a passion for music and each individual is given their own path that they must follow. Read More

I believe that my style is really flexible. I think that everybody has a different way to learn so my style will vary based on the student. I also believe that the role of the teacher should the one of facilitating the student process but ultimately is the student who should dictate the style and the pace of the lesson. I believe also that listening is a really important part of music learning so I have my student listening to a lot of different music and also I play with them all the time so that they can hear and feel what is it to play together. For beginner students, I will usually start with the basic fundamentals of playing the instrument. This would include tone production, articulation, flexibility, scales, arpeggios, and sight reading. Once the student has become more fluent in the technique of their instrument I will start to ask them what they want to work on and improve upon. One method I truly believe in is playing duets with the student. The best way to improve at anything is to practice with someone who has more experience. Read More
