My parents are both teachers so I come from a background of educators. I have been teaching for the last 3 years as I was completing my degree at CU Boulder. Even though I am a jazz trombonist, I focus on finding music that students like, not that I personally want to play. I achieve this by allowing my student to progress at their own pace while they develop both their knowledge of music and their enjoyment of the craft. I even took Teacher Cadets as a senior in high school and did a month long internship with a middle school band director where I learned for the first time how to direct a band.
