Dan received his Bachelors Degree in Trombone Performance from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He credits his time at Baylor University for teaching him the value of a supportive and nurturing environment balanced with hard work and dedication. Piano: For beginning students who are children, I start by teaching out of the Faber Piano Adventure books. I find that they focus on the more exciting aspects of music, such as sight reading. This is different from the Bastion books which I think focus too much on more challenging (and boring) methods such as articulation. The Faber books are great because they have fun short songs that the student can play with the teacher in a duet. Read More

I believe in being being honest and encouraging, allowing students the chance to struggle and fail in a safe environment, while stressing and correcting proper techniques. I encourage practicing a little almost every day of the week, and finding what fires you up about the instrument. I also make sure to take an interest in student's lives beyond music- people are busy, and I understand those pressures! My teaching experience began in my junior year of high school (2009) when I was asked by younger students if I could teach them outside of school. I enjoyed teaching these students, their siblings, and other students up until last year (2013) when my last student left for college. I took a year off from teaching in order to complete my college degree at Towson University, and now that I have graduated I am looking to share my knowledge, experience, work ethic, and passion for music, with students that have a burning desire to pursue music either as a living, or a hobby.
