I began my musical journey since before grade school, learning piano and other percussive instruments. I immediately took a strong liking towards music and followed it through all my years in school, learning brass instruments and refining my practices along the way. in 2018, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Performance. Along with over 4 years of teaching, I've had the experience of touring and performing in various venues around the country and across multiple genres, such as performing with orchestras in Boston Symphony Hall, as well as performing with popular reggae artists in Los Angeles venues. I have been playing trombone since fifth grade, nearly 20 years of experience. I have about 15 years of experience playing the piano and I have learned the other brass instruments out of necessity for my music degree. I can teach trombone and piano at all levels and can teach trumpet, horn, and euphonium to the intermediate level. I always encourage regular practice. Through lessons, I hope to help that passion blossom and teach that student how to best express themselves through music. My teaching style again goes back to finding out what and how the student wants to learn. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Some of the events we hosted were as follows: a Latin Dance Night where I taught salsa, Bachata, and Merengue dance to 30 students, an African American culture/history recital, and a world music expo including distinguished musicians teaching Taiko drumming, Balkin music, Global flutes, and West African drumming and dance.
