The method of teaching is as follows: 1) assess where the student is in music and in life, 2) ask about goals in music, 3) formulate objective to reach those goals, 4) rethink things when needed (students aren't cookies, so I can't use a cookie cutter). I do focus on things in order though. If you don't know your fundamentals, then that's where we start no matter what. After learning fundamentals, however, we can begin to pick and choose the battles and wars. Read More

As a teacher, I try to make learning fun and imaginative. There is no better feeling than watching one's students grow as musicians. I think it is important to set realistic, yet challenging goals for my students. I try to find what musical styles my students like best and tailor instruction to fit their needs. Teaching is all about the student. It is my job to make learning enjoyable and to always encourage my students to learn new repertoire. Read More

My approach to doing lessons tends to be high enthusiasm and high standards. I am a firm believer in the idea of using focused practice and developing healthy self-criticism skills to build character. Creating lofty (but achievable) goals, setting standards, and persevering through challenges, is not only a great way to become a better musician, but is also a great way to become a better person. It is with this concept that I approach my lessons. Read More

Music has been my passion since grade school. I began teaching in the fall of 2006 and have engaged with students of all ages. I welcome the wide eyed enthusiastic child who can't wait to learn and perform, as well as the reluctant, but determined adult who just wants to play for fun or take on a new challenge. After attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston for 2 years, I joined Merrimack Valley's favorite local band the B. Read More

I create my own lesson plans specific to the students need and goals. There are core elements to my teaching that are constantly enforced, including my level of importance placed on rhythm and the aural tradition of music. Singing melodies, clapping rhythms and drum parts. Listening to music and talking and a gentle musical analysis of what we are hearing. I believe that everyone is first a person then a musician and then an instrumentalist. Read More

. I began teaching private lessons and tutoring students in harmony and ear training nine years ago. Since then, I have also taught lessons to brass player, as well as music theory, ear training, composition, and improvisation, to pupils of all levels and ages. I have also directed sectionals for brass and woodwind players in youth wind ensembles. Some of my specific experience includes coordinating youth ensemble programming, teaching group and private lessons, developing and implementing curriculum, teaching general music, using music software and technology to enrich the learning process, instructing a bilingual classroom of Spanish and English speakers. I cater lessons to YOUR needs and goals. I am not invested in there being a "right" technique of any kind. Together we will create a custom approach so that you will love the experience of playing the music you love. I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week. You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals. Read More
