I began teaching my first piano student when I was 14 years old. I have since enjoyed teaching in many different ways. I've taught private students, homeschool choruses, pre-K-8th grade (using music curriculum that I created), 8th grade science students, large choirs of beautiful angelic children's voices, adult church choirs, youth and adult bands, gospel choirs, reading literacy students,and soldier medicshow to prepare for their responsibilities. In my lessons, I will encourage the student to work at their own pace, but making sure they fulfill the objectives as we move along. I want my student to be as comfortable as possible while pushing them to succeed simultaneously. I am a detail-oriented teacher who thoroughly enjoys seeing my students succeed and enjoy their musical journey. Self-reliance is going to be what carries each and every student throughout the course of their career with music. I was in choir and band all throughout middle/high school and went to college unsure if I wanted to focus on music or theatre. I was very active in both departments and continued to take private piano and voice lessons but theatre won out and my primary focus changed to scenic painting. However, music remains a huge part of my life. I love that no matter where I am or who I am with music brings people together in a way that nothing else can. Read More
