I began teaching my first piano student when I was 14 years old. I have since enjoyed teaching in many different ways. I've taught private students, homeschool choruses, pre-K-8th grade (using music curriculum that I created), 8th grade science students, large choirs of beautiful angelic children's voices, adult church choirs, youth and adult bands, gospel choirs, reading literacy students,and soldier medicshow to prepare for their responsibilities. I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd.
