When I think about a student learning wintry to put myself in there shoes. They want to feel like they have something to show for the time that they were the class session. . if we have an hour session and at the end of the session they can go out and show off what they learned then they will. For beginning students, I typically start with teaching basic healthy singing techniques, such as vocalizing and healthy posture while singing. This includes instruction of vocal and breathing mechanics. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce repertoire selection guidance, performance coaching, and song interpretation and stylistic traits of a variety of genres. Outside of lessons I typically do ask that you practice a minimum of 5 times per week for 15-20 minutes using practice exercises that we learn in lessons so that you will continue to improve vocal technique. I consider the greatest and most rewarding aspect of teaching to be seeing and hearing a student gain the ability to play an instrument and thereby to become a musician.
