My method is based on the individual singer. I always begin by introducing the fundamentals of singing (posture, breath, etc.) as these are commonly addressed in some way throughout a voice lesson. I begin every lesson with warm up exercises that relate to the music or technique that the student is currently working on. From there, we begin applying those techniques into the music. I love being able to send students on their way for the day knowing that they put their best foot forward. Even if they did not come to a lesson prepared, being able to see growth in the small amount of time I'm with them is enough for me. In the past 14 years, I have taught every level of music education from age 1 to 22, and I have experienced teaching in many different scenarios including preschool music time, elementary chorus and general music, indoor percussion, and concert, wind, and marching bands.
