For beginners, I like to incorporate a basic understanding of pitch, rhythm, and theory to develop their skills as a musician. I use a variety of exercises to develop range, intonation, diction, and breath control. The warm up part of the lesson is so important because it is where I can identify strengths and expose weaknesses that can be improved. I love being able to send students on their way for the day knowing that they put their best foot forward. Even if they did not come to a lesson prepared, being able to see growth in the small amount of time I'm with them is enough for me. I understand that every student progresses at their own pace, so I work with them and their parents to make sure that realistic goals are set and written down to hold the student, parent, and myself to this growth plan. When I think about a student learning wintry to put myself in there shoes. They want to feel like they have something to show for the time that they were the class session. . if we have an hour session and at the end of the session they can go out and show off what they learned then they will. It be as motivated to come back.... Additionally, I will spend time sorting through my students. And when I find a student that has an ability to do a specific musical task, I will usually nurture the student in that regard.
