All beginner students start with an Essential Elements series of books to help them understand the process of actually playing their instrument. Once this has been achieved or if the student is already past this level, I like to inquire about what the student wants to learn and improve on. When working on a solo piece we will look at it as a whole, go over any terms or passages that the student has questions about and then work in sections as well as addressing the entire piece and the musicality of how to approach and play the piece. Music has been a part of my life since before I can remember, and playing and teaching are the things that bring me the most joy in life. In high school, my love of music and jazz really began to take shape through taking private lessons and going out to see live music.
