I am an extremely passionate saxophonist, musician, and teacher. I love sharing all that I have learned about the saxophone with students and helping them to grow in their journey with both the saxophone and music. I am from the San Francisco Bay Area, where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Saxophone performance from San Jose State University. In 2022, I moved to New York City to work towards my Doctorate at the Manhattan School of Music. Read More

My teaching style is by assigning studies and etudes to develop fundamentals while simultaneously incorporating the learnt fundamentals into “real-time”, on the job training! I strongly believe that all students are capable of learning an instrument and while there are some basic tenets to learning music, every student has their own style of learning in terms of pace and physical ability. It is up to me the instructor to find the best way to present the lesson. My teaching style is characterized by creating a relaxed and fun environment where my own passion for music helps inspire the student. Read More

I like to make music learning a self-engaged process. Students will keep track of their assignments, make some of the decisions about what music to play, and be expected to practice a minimum of 5 or 6 days per week. Students are sometimes reluctant to have discipline at first, but once they realize that they are making fast progress and overcoming musical challenges, they tend to have a great time. I have had parents of middle schoolers tell me that the structure music lessons have brought to their students' lives has made a huge difference in other areas. Read More

Every lesson starts with listening. Whether it be to yourself, someone you want to sound like, or your favorite band, the best way to focus your efforts while learning is to know who you want to sound like and what kind of music you want to make. From there, everything else falls into place. There's no use spending long hours practicing techniques and exercises and scale patterns if it's not serving the purpose of helping you achieve your goals and if it's not helping you have fun playing music. My teaching style is flexible based on the individuals needs. Some students require a firm approach whereas others are better off with a gentler one. I pride myself on my ability to connect with students and find what motivates them. My approach heavily relies on the historical pedagogy of every instrument I teach while also implementing improvisation and free play to excite and motivate. My students are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, master classes, and listen to live music as much as possible. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
