For beginner Piano / Keyboard Students, I use the Bastien Books. They are simple to understand and get the Student through the first few stages of Right Hand Left Hand coordination and positions. I have several different books for Saxophone Students that feature technique, solo repertoire and duets. Depending on whether the student is a child, a teenager or an adult, I choose either a Daisy Guitar Book, Hal Leonard books, or the Berkeley School of Music for Guitarists. Read More

I had always known that I wanted to become a music teacher, but this is the time of my life when I really started discovering my potential in the education community. Students that I have worked with have achieved Superior Ratings in OMEA Solo and Ensemble events, have been part of various honor bands and extra-curricular groups. Then when I was attending Miami University, I started my own studio of three high school trombone students; I did that for 2 years. Since then I have taught at dozens of band camps all across Ohio, I have taught in BGSUs Academy Band from 2017-2018, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestras Youth Wind Ensemble from 2014-2016. I have been teaching private lessons for five years now to students aged 8-18. I have also taught general music classes to 3 month-two year olds in an early childhood music class. My students have excelled through solos, ensembles, festivals, etc. I believe in consistency of instruction and positive reinforcement and criticism. If I have a student who is struggling with fundamentals, then we will focus on fundamentals. If I have a student who is struggling with articulations, then we will focus on articulations in lessons.
