Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet Keyboard

Through out the years of both learning, playing and up to present doing more teaching and classes i've realized the need to practice ones instrument. I also figured that practice just after a class means a lot as you tend to remember a lot that you talked about in a class session! We are all different when it comes to learning and material intake, so as a teacher loving and being patient with my students has always proven to bring out the best from students on their instruments. My materials and methods differ depending on the pupil's age/ability. For a young 11 year old beginner, homework assignments will begin with the instrument itself, and then eventually Book One of any method book desired. Popular practice dictates good results with books like Yamaha and Standard of Excellence. For middle-level ability (middle school / early high school), the Rubank series is perfect. Finally, with middle and above levels; solos, ensemble work, duets, and additional etude books will be used. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet

I like to teach without books as much as possible as I feel it allows the student to internalize musical concepts better. The book series I use however is the Rubank method books. These have easy fundamental exercises to help keep the chops in shape and to work on reading music. I also recommend students buy sheet music of music they like(assuming it is at their playing level) and will happily work on it with them. Read More

My goal is to ignite passion in students through exposing them to a variety of ways of thinking about music-- it is never too early to show students that composing and improvising can be fun in addition to performing written music. I am well-versed in teaching fundamental note and rhythm reading through both visual and aural avenues. With intermediate and advanced classical saxophone students I strive to encourage greater musicality through focus on expressive interpretation of phrasing and form, and studying of both traditional and contemporary repertoire. Instruments: Piano Guitar Saxophone Clarinet

I started teaching private lessons in college, about four or five years ago. I have taken students on several different instruments, mainly saxophone, piano and guitar. I find that it is important to encourage students to play and practice the type of music they enjoy, and to have fun performing and learning. I also believe that students should play in recitals, bands, and get other performance experiences while taking private lessons in order to improve their overall musicianship. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
