In each educational situation, I aim to establish clear goals and assignments, build confidence through positive reinforcement, and explain concepts in an engaging manner appropriate to each student. After Berklee I taught full time for one year at a local music store. While attending MSM I taught group classes in New York City middle schools on Clarinet and Flute. In 1998, I began teaching saxophone lessons in Houston, TX. I have taught saxophone lessons in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2008. My students were in middle school, high school, college. and adults. In addition, I have taught students who wanted to start a new hobby or were interested in returning to an instrument that they played in the past. In 2011, I began studying with Joe Eckert at TCU. At TCU, I coached the saxophone quartets, lead rehearsals for the jazz ensemble saxophone section, performed classical saxophone recitals, and performed with the jazz ensemble. Read More

I like to make music learning a self-engaged process. Students will keep track of their assignments, make some of the decisions about what music to play, and be expected to practice a minimum of 5 or 6 days per week. Students are sometimes reluctant to have discipline at first, but once they realize that they are making fast progress and overcoming musical challenges, they tend to have a great time. I am a multi-instumentalist/performer/teacher who loves working with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. My specialty is classical music, but I am also a singer/songwriter! I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album.
