Then, I have them learn simple songs by ear to strengthen their relationship with the instrument. At the same time, I will teach them how to read music if necessary. I like to use the Rubank or the Sound Innovations band method books to start with. Since moving to New York I've taught lessons privately from my home studio and traveling to students homes, as well as teaching group lessons in several after-school programs in the Bronx. In 2018, I graduated with B.A. in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach.
