My teaching experiences have come from my time spent playing in a variety of ensembles in the different colleges that I attended. I was often asked to lead groups in rehearsal and this was where my teaching experiences first began. It started with my colleges Big Band and then with a Saxophone Quartet. Being able to lead a group of musicians and helping them get better everyday was the most fulfilling feeling I got during my time in school and pushed me to try my hand at teaching younger students. I have been teaching private lessons since I was in high school in 2007. I worked with younger students in my program who couldn't afford the rates of the professional instructors in the area, so I taught for free to members of our lowest ensemble. I found that I enjoyed teaching and I soon set course for my degree in music education. I continued teaching while at college to student ages 10 - 31. Read More

As a teacher, I try not to stress rote learning but instead focus on explanations for why music works the way it does. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. To that end, I stress technical study that works towards grooming pieces or songs for performance and make sure that my students have a complete understanding of both music and their instrument. Music has been my life for so long and it is my passion! I started reading sheet music when I was 4. I started to learn Piano when I was 5. At age 7 I started learning basic Music Theory. At age 10, I began my journey with Flute and I have been playing ever since!
