I always knew I wanted to study music, and chose Illinois State to do so. While there, I participated in musicals, as well as concert choir and the women's elite chorus "Belle Voix." Since college, I have been writing original cabarets and performing live around the city of Chicago. It's my philosophy that one should never stop learning, so I study regularly with my voice teacher of eight years, Sandra DeAthos, take class at the Bloom School of Jazz (vocal performance and jazz piano), and with the Second City Music Conservatory. Anthony Rodriguez is a Chicago-based woodwind doubler who is proficient in flute, oboe, saxophone and clarinet. He studied these instruments while attaining his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Brooklyn College under the esteemed Bernard Goldberg (Flute), Bob Ingliss (Oboe), and Paul Cohen (Saxophone). Previous teachers have also included Helen Campo (flute), Edino Biaggi (Oboe) and Salim Washington (saxophone/woodwinds). When I graduated in 1986 with an MM degree I began to pursue it full time which took me to many different middle/high schools in the area. I also taught at Lake Forest College as well as Saint Xavier University. In addition, I have also taught many beginners over the years. Through the Institute, I had the opportunity to teach students from the Madison WI area ranging in age from elementary through high school.
