I began teaching private lessons eight years ago during college. By the end of 2015 I had a studio of over 30 students. I tend to focus on developing a student's sound concept first, so that they can get a beautiful sound out of the instrument at an early age. I also encourage students to play ear-training games and develop an independent melodic sensibility early on. Comprehensive method individually structured for each student.  Books depending on level and age start with Standard of Excellence and are individually chosen to support the student. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I began teaching both privately and as a group instructor 4 years ago while studying in Undergrad. Since then, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a teaching assistant at summer jazz workshops, and have been teaching privately in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and now New York. Instilling a love for the process of learning and practicing is my top priority as an instructor.
