In 2021, I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with my Bachelor's in Music Education (EC-12). While I was there, I performed with the premier ensembles such as the UTA Jazz Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and the UTA Symphony Orchestra. In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. For more advanced students, I typically have a lesson plan or a direction that I want to go after assessing strengths and weaknesses. For beginners, I like to start with the Rubank method books, which progress pretty rapidly. I also focus on tone production and scales as we move along at the level of the individual student. I gauge the speed at which we move based on the student in question, and prepare a practice routine for each student based on how much time they have to practice each day. For an intermediate to advanced student, I work with more the more advanced Rubank method books, and suggest solo literature appropriate for them to prepare. Read More
