Though I've been playing music since I was 10 years old, I had always viewed it as a hobby until I was a junior in College. After graduating from Texas State University in 2010, I nose-dived into the Austin music scene and after a couple years of networking and collaborating with other musicians, I found myself performing with a band called Calliope Musicals. In 5 years, we've toured and performed all over the continent and I've learned more about music and myself in that time than I ever have before. Read More

I'm a certified music teacher who loves helping students progress towards their musical goals! I graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois State University. I have over a decade of musical training, both vocal and instrumental. I am also fluent in French and have a lot of experience with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), which means I greatly enjoy helping students to learn music in foreign languages! Read More

I enjoy watching a student make progress and help celebrate when a particular goal is reached (such as the completion of a lesson book or the mastering of an important piece). Generally my lessons are enjoyable for both of us, and I strive to use praise more than criticism. Read More

I like that it includes lessons, technic exercises and theory all in one book. I also use the Hanon book for warm-up exercises. Read More

PIANO STUDENTS: For beginners, I prefer the Bastien series. I like a lot of variety but am very careful to not give too much at once. It is better to become excellent at each thing slowly, than try to do a lot and not be that good at any of it. I am a stickler for starting out with scales and theory right away. Understanding rhythm right away is of utmost importance as well. Read More
