For beginning students I start with Bastian Piano series. It has 4 books including piano, performance, technique and theory, which helps the student to have a full comprehension of piano playing. I will test students and then select a level to start. Once they complete the highest level, I will introduce solo repertoires and Hanon and Carl Czerny to enhence their skills. All voice students will gain a working knowledge of English, Italian, French, and German basic translations, pronunciation, and performance styles; along with IPA phonetics. Theory and Composition students will work from Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory and William Russo's Composing Music as well as supplemental activities. They will compose both by hand and with Finale. Advanced students will be introduced to symphonic composition, arranging, and orchestration. Once they finish 4 levels, I will begin to introduce classical songs, Hymn, Jazz, Game music, Pop and also teach them free styles with chord progressions. Also, my students can learn any songs they want to play since I am able to remake songs based on their level. Encouraging regular, consistent practice and keeping a journal of areas of focus during practice is one of the techniques I encourage for students of all ages to progress and grow in their enjoyment of the instrument.
