My approach to teaching is as individual as each student. It is important that each student learns at their own pace and in their learning style. It is my job to see what the student's best playing is and push them a little past it. I help my students set goals in their lessons, both broad goals of learning pieces, and specific parts of each piece for their weekly practice. Read More

After carefully assessing each of my students, and determining whether or not he or she are beginners, intermediate or advanced, I start them in the lesson book that is according to the level they are at. I teach from Alfred's Piano Course, but if my student has a piano book already, it is not a problem to teach from that series. Once my student has progressed and has a strong understanding of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire for their recitals and personal interest. Read More

Music is a passion of mine, and Im so thankful I have the opportunity to share it with others! In 2013 I graduated from Bryan College with a BS in Piano Performance. I was blessed with many performance opportunities during college, including piano recitals, musical showcases, accompanying performers and chamber ensemble music. Although I enjoy performing, teaching is my first passion. Since beginning teaching during my senior year of high school, I have continued to grow in knowledge and skill so that I can be the most effective piano teacher for all ages. Read More

Hey! I'm Dee, your very own virtuoso of the ivories. I've been tinkering on pianos since before I could even talk, and I must say, it's quite the racket! But enough about my humble beginnings - let's focus on what really matters: the music, and the memories we create together. You see, playing the piano isn't just about pressing keys in a particular order; it's about telling stories, evoking emotions, and transporting you to another world, even if only for a moment. My teacing style is what I would call organized relaxed. I create specific goals for each student that are attainable. I continually work to encourage my students to work towards their goals. Seeing the light bulb of comprehension go off for my students is my indicator of a job well done. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Trombone Recorder Euphonium
I began teaching trumpet privately 44 years ago. Over the years I have added voice, beginning piano, trombone, euphonium, and recorder to my studio. I encourage each student to practice several times a week for as long as they can. I find that some students like to practice in one sitting, whereas others prefer to practice for 10-15 minutes before taking a break and then returning. I convey to each student that working at your craft for 10,000 hours will make you an expert. Read More

For all students, our first meeting will be an assessment to figure out where to start! I typically have students begin by playing something they are comfortable with that they enjoy, and we go from there. I am comfortable teaching a variety of methods and like to help the student achieve their individual goals, whatever those may be. I do like to supplement most teaching method books with some kind of scale/etude regimen depending on the level, to round out their practice throughout the week between lessons. Read More
