My teaching style revolves around the students’ needs and desires in the music. I like to have a balance of exercises that are centered around developing technical facility and developing the ears of the students. Each student is assessed on what they wish to learn and their own capabilities. I like to give a push into a direction that challenges my students but still allows for them to benefit from and enjoy the music. Read More

I am a multi-instrumentalist teacher who loves bringing my experience on the bandstand and in the studio to students. I graduated SUNY Purchase specializing in jazz performance, have been on tour throughout the east coast and Midwest with 'The Element', and performed extensively in the Westchester and NYC area playing with 'Mokaad'. I have been fortunate enough to share the bandstand with greats such as Bernard Purdie, Charlie Lagond, and Gabriel Garzon-Montano. Read More

I continued to teach music at that same sleep away camp for years -- eventually becoming the Head of the Music Department ( Rock Shop) there - coaching bands, leading improv classes, and developing the program. I later enjoyed several years teaching as an adjunct professor in the music department at my alma mater. I have always had a steady practice of private students ranging in ages and experience. Whatever the material be, I focus on finding the student's true musical voice, allowing them to take ownership over their instrument, allowing any intimidation to fade, and therefore, finding the natural joy in playing music. The key to my teaching style is to take my personality that has been so effective in concert and use it as a catalyst to inspired my students to gain confidence, set goals, and press on to master their instrument. For the younger students, I tell them to think of their guitar as a teddy bear and hug it like your best friend and that fingering is not your foe but your friend. Read More
