I always ask first what the student is looking to gain from these lessons, what pieces will he be interested in learning and who are his favorite composers. If that doesn't yield much, I will try to discover what are the student's interests and will try to approach him in a language that will excite him. Teachers need to be able to either keep the flame of the student going, or polish that flame. Read More

In general though I focus on 3 key elements: 1) Sound quality 2) Technical dexterity (how the fingers deal with the twists and turns of the instrument) 3) Reading Music If a student has a specific genre of music that he/she wants to focus on then I mainly concentrate on that. During my time at Rutgers I took on many students of all ages on drum set and piano and I have been teaching consistently ever since. For all my students my focus is on listening, reading, and experimentation. Listening to all kinds of music helps develop your musical ear and your intuition. Read More

Nothing is more exciting than seeing one of students enjoying playing the piano, I try to determine what inspires each students and set realistic goals for them. To some students , I encourage them to practice only a few measures, while another student may complete the entire piece. Each student learns and progresses individually, I try to find out what inspires the student, and gear my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Fiddle
I love having my students use notebooks to keep track of their own goals, practice habits and achievements. I think this is a great way to have them keep themselves on track and it's also a neat way to track progress! As a teacher, I like to encourage my students to be self-motivated so they can improve on their own. Taking lessons is obviously important but it is also crucial for students to practice the materials learned in lessons on their own time. Read More
