My teaching style comes from a combination of my own extensive training (both in pedagogy and performance), my experiences as a performer, experiences with community involvement, and what I have learned over the years in various teaching capacities from other fellow teachers and parenthood (I co-teach violin to my daugher). Patience, dedication, constancy and love of music are essential for a successful partnership between a student and myself. For younger students, I try to establish good dynamics not only with the child but also with the parent. The parental involvement at home is essential for succesful, loving musical development- no matter how "talented" the parent may or may not be. Frome early on, I encourage the student to love and respect what is being learned, while at the same time encouraging him/her to develop critical thinking- and listening.

Seeing a student thrive and succeed is the number one goal for a teacher. Understanding the student is important to me, as it would greatly help me in producing an effective and practical lesson plan. In my experience, rewards in accomplishing small tasks goes a long way for the student.

Instruments:

I have a passion for both playing the violin and teaching. I like to make my students feel comfortable so that they are more open to learning and expressing themselves. But I'm always pushing them to be better by making them identify and correct mistakes, not slack off on posture, learning through repetition, and consistent practice outside of lessons. I recognize that each student has a different background, personality, and learning style, and it is the teacher's job to cater to the specific needs of each student.

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
