For beginning or young students (under age 8), music-related games are incorporated into lessons to encourage positive growth, rather than thinking of playing an instrument as a "chore". Small assignments are expected to be completed weekly, so that the child feels a sense of accomplishment and progress. For older or more advanced students, lessons are structured by a regimen of scales, exercises, and classical pieces. If the student so chooses, classical pieces can be exchanged for pop or contemporary music. Technique and musicality are two important issues to be addressed at every lesson, and each person's physical build and learning style lends itself to different approaches in these respects. Creating a beautiful sound while being fluent in reading and executing music are the main goals once familiarity is established with the instrument.

My teaching style can most accurately be described as patient and creative. Music should be fun. The student should enjoy practicing.  It is my job to create a lesson plan that allows a student to progress steadily, without straining the limits of their abilities.
