As a child, I loved to sing. Although I could not understand the words, I relied on the sounds and melodies of songssongs that were Russian, Armenian, and even English. I believe my concentration on the music and not the words lead me into my passion for the piano, which I started playing at the age of eight. Whatever type of music they are interested in playing, I find several examples to pull from that and use it as teaching material and relate it back to our foundational training. This keeps our lessons fun, engaging, and rewarding. For Drum set, I teach from Tommy Igoe's "Groove Essentials 1.0/2.0" and John Riley's "The Art of Bop Drumming". I started teaching in 2008 and my studio at its maximum capacity was 30 students - a large portion with whom I worked consistently for 3 years until I decided pursue graduate school. While at UNL I taught applied voice and diction, and literature classes as a teaching assistant. Music has always been my greatest passion. I became a teacher so I could spread that passion to my students and watch them succeed at something that they love.
