My teaching experiance has been mainly one one one. I've never given group lessons mainly because you can't totally focus on the student when there are several people involved. The best teaching/learning situation is the individual lesson where the focus is on one person. All my lessons are with one individual. For piano students ages 5-9, I generally use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures series. For piano ages 10-12 I use the Older Beginner series. My teen and adult students normally work out of and Adult All in One series. For more advanced piano students Ill work repertoire, theory and scales/technique as needed/desired by the student. I believe in tailoring music lessons to the individual students needs. This usually involves speaking with the student in the first lesson/lessons to find out what specifically they want to learn or improve. Once I've figured this out, I begin to find repertoire or create exercises that challenge this student in the respective area of focus. My teaching experiences stems back to my undergraduate career at the John J. Cali School of music. I began teaching and tutoring underclassmen in theory, piano and voice while also teaching dance classes in the community. After I graduated I continued teaching and gained an assistantship to continue voice lessons to undergraduate non-majors. I also was the assistant director for our musical theater revue. I am passionate about anything and everything music-related. I have studied and teach the guitar, piano, bass and also have an in-depth knowledge of music theory.  From there I introduce gradually more difficult pieces from the classical, romantic and modern repertoire.  For adults and young adults I start with Alfred Adult Piano Basics and teach from the first and second method book.  After that I proceed in a similar way as I do with the very young students.  I try to understand each student’s personality and interest and make the lesson informative, inspiring and fun and add occasional popular and familiar popular pieces based on the desires of the student.
