After 10 years of teaching experience, I decided to apply for the position of the music teacher in Zambia, Africa. I was sent there as a volunteer member by Japanese government. I started playing when I was 5 years old and was taught through Suzuki format. It teaches students to learn by ear and that really made a difference in my style of playing. I started writing my own compositions at 13 years old and that is what made me want to learn more. All through highschool I continued to play and eventually got a small album together. I was part of the school symphony so took students from my class and tutored them on their technique and stamina to play richer, louder, longer tones.  After becoming involved with more children as well as children with special needs through my work in university I began teaching musicality to kids in different settings, which led me to start teaching the piano to beginners. Playing piano is my greatest reward in life, being able to bring a smile to a face of any age. After graduating from Cal Poly with a concentration in performance and theory, I was musical director of The Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville theater. I was able to broaden my horizons performing, teaching, composing and arranging all different styles of music.and can even play piano upside down now! There I cultivated my skills as a soloist, ensemble player, and accompanist for several student recitals. I received his Bachelors of the Arts in Musical Composition and Psychology, with Honors in both, in 2009. While working towards my degree I began teaching both group classes and private lessons in the Elk Grove area eventually expanding to the greater Sacramento area and Davis during my almost 20 years of teaching. I became a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC) in 2010 and held many positions in the organization for the Yolo County Branch, including Chair of the Composer’s Today program (a program that holds an annual recital for students who compose their own music), Recording Secretary, and I'm currently finishing my tenure as Branch President. I have a syllabus that I am following base on the Music Teacher's Association syllabus in preparation for a Certificate of Merrit examination.
