My teaching style is relaxed and organic. Don't get me wrong, we will work hard! But it will be fun and enriching. I teach my students to appreciate the music they make, and to listen to themselves for what is working well, in addition to what can be improved. My teaching experience began in my post undergraduate college days. After graduation, I began studying at a studio called Jazz Improv with a Master's level instructor. One of his students asked for a saxophone teacher and the party was referred to me. I was then able to obtain a second saxophone student; I have also had two piano students when teaching.  From there I introduce gradually more difficult pieces from the classical, romantic and modern repertoire.  For adults and young adults I start with Alfred Adult Piano Basics and teach from the first and second method book.  After that I proceed in a similar way as I do with the very young students.  I try to understand each student’s personality and interest and make the lesson informative, inspiring and fun and add occasional popular and familiar popular pieces based on the desires of the student. In 2007, I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. I was a member of the Penn State Marching Blue Band and have participated in several Alumni Blue Band performances since graduating. I went on to earn my Masters of Music in Music Education from Northwestern University in 2012. I enjoyed teaching music in the public school for ten years.
