I am a flutist turned conductor turned accompanist who loves to pass on a love for music! My philosophy is to teach of broad spectrum of musical skills, thoery, history and application in order to let the student personalize their love for the arts. Alfred Publishing piano courses (both older and newer), Faber and Faber, Bastien, Edna Mae Burnam, and the Hal Leonard course have all been among my pre-published methods that I have used over the years. I have also adopted some technic content from elsewhere. For example, the Zion Conservatory of Music, where I taught from 2004 to 2018, uses a couple of different customized scale patterns for first- and second-year students. I am a percussionist , drummer and beginning piano instruction. I have a music degree as well a master's degree in education. I have been teaching for the past 20 years with both school age student's as well as adults in individual and group settings. Did projects such as Music to My Ears project which won an international award. Did a presentation at the U.S. Music Therapy conference on this project that was done at Kindcare in Milwaukee while working with adults with severe developmental disabilities. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.I would love to give my students opportunities to give recitals in public because that is a way to check themselves of what they actually learned from class and also that will gain their confidence and interests of playing piano in public. Im experienced in both private and group settings. My private lessons have focused on tailored programs to raise the students aptitude and proficiency in their piano playing. I have successfully guided many of my students to outstanding exam results in well recognized music examination boards such as RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music), ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and Trinity College London.
