Dennis H. was employed at the historic Marshall Field’s store in Chicago as a piano and keyboard salesman. He attended the Kircher Technical Training Institute in Oak Park, where he acquired certificates in piano tuning and string repair. In 2003, he began operating a piano technician business, Northern Strings Piano Services, located in Racine. His ongoing projects include rebuilding and refinishing pianos for clients from Chicago to Milwaukee. Dennis has been teaching piano since 2001, beginning in Grayslake, and expanding into Kenosha in 2004.  A number of his students have participated in the annual National Guild Piano Playing Auditions, receiving Superior ratings. I graduated from Carroll University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Liberal Arts, and have performed as principal flute for an international music project between Carroll University, Marquette, UW Milwaukee, and multiple Italian conservatories all throughout Italy, Germany, and Austria. I have been teaching for the past 20 years with both school age student's as well as adults in individual and group settings. Did projects such as Music to My Ears project which won an international award. My teaching experience started in high school when I started teaching harp and piano part time. I had a close relationship with my music teachers growing up and I hope to establish the same type of relationship with my own students as I have with previous ones. It's also important that there is a balance between fun and time put in. Without practice, one cannot play an instrument well. I first got into music when I was in elementary school. My first instrument was the upright bass fiddler. This help me learn the notes on the bass clef. I later learned to play trumpet which was the instrument that used to audition to get into the Navy Band.
