My experience with teaching started when I was completing my Bachelors degree. I taught both privately from my own home studio as well as a contracted teaching artist at several music schools. For me, teaching has always been one of my biggest passions. I enjoy creating an environment where students can not only grow and develop their skills but also explore the different nuances in music. One thing that is very important to me as a teacher is encouraging students to be consistent in their practice time. Read More

I began teaching piano at the age of 16, and my first student was a girl aged 4. She was a potential student of my own piano teacher, but this teacher chose to assign this girl to me to teach before taking her on. My teaching experiance has been mainly one one one. I've never given group lessons mainly because you can't totally focus on the student when there are several people involved. The best teaching/learning situation is the individual lesson where the focus is on one person. All my lessons are with one individual. More than one creates distraction and breaks the contenuity of the learning experiance. My experiance has been with grade school students, College age, middle aged and also senior citizens. My teaching style is simple: let the student decide what they want to pursue, and then push them in that direction! After all, that's how I was trained. My only goal is that the student is excited about what they are learning and playing. I will tailor every lesson plan to the student's personal interests, and make sure that goals are realistic such that the student feels that they are making progress. Read More

I tailor my lessons to the needs of each student, no matter the level. I make sure to set goals that are attainable. I want my students to feel confident about their skills. I'm very open to questions and suggestions for music they want to sing. The more they enjoy it, the more they're likely to practice! I focus on their strengths while also working on their weaker areas. My degree in music therapy gives me unique skills when it comes to building relationships with my students. Read More
