Overview:
I am a determined and motivated music teacher who loves working with students and giving my love of music to others. I graduated from City College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. I have done gigs as a substitute drummer playing the drums in clubs all over New York City when I was a teenager many years ago. I have played with Michael Brecker at the Seventh Avenue South Jazz Club and also have played with Donald Dunn at the Bourne Club and also have played with Ace Frehley at the Lamour Club.
EXPERIENCE
My music teaching experience started eight years ago. I go all over New York City to my students homes to teach them private individual music lessons. You must practice five days a week at a consistent time within the day. Practice and repetition and review are major key points for any student to progress in music. Repetition and practice and review is the mother of success in music. The main reason you should take up music is that you love learning about music and love learning how to play different musical instruments.
METHODS USED
For all students no matter if they are children or adults or if they are beginner students or advanced students I would tell all my students to get a large manuscript book and a metronome. Also they should get different musical instructional books. I will teach all my students how to read and write music. Very important. I will teach all my students all different styles of music and the many different ways or many different techniques in how to play music with their individual musical instrument that the student will take up.
LESSON STYLE
The best thing as a music teacher personally is to see of my students develop a love for music. It is also important that each individual student will improve at his or her own pace and his or her own level. I will encourage this by making realistic goals for all my students at each individual lesson. Telling the individual student what they have accomplished musically and what they have learned musically at the music lesson will help give the individual student to want to learn more about music.
